Our volunteer writing partners are people of different ages, life stages and religious, cultural and education backgrounds. They share the desire to learn more about the Holocaust and support survivors in telling their stories in the manner that was meaningful to them.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to the Azrieli Foundation’s Sustaining Memories project in 2017. Coming from a community with its own recent histories of conflict and war, I was drawn to the Foundation’s efforts to preserve testimonies of survival and resilience, and working alongside survivor Denise Hans to craft her memoir gave me a deep appreciation for both the difficulty and the necessity of bearing witness to these painful stories. I am lucky to say that Denise has remained a dear and cherished friend, and the experiences afforded to me by this unique and important program are ones that I will remember and value for years to come.
